ArcelorMittal Mont-Wright Mine Complex
Challenge
With an annual production of several million tons of iron concentrate, Mont-Wright ranks among the largest iron mines in the world. To optimize its operations, ArcelorMittal decided to engage ARA Robotique to obtain aerial surveys of the Mont-Wright Mine for their analyses.
Solution
Mont-Wright is now a user of ODAS®, our on-demand aerial survey solution. Each month, the ARA-405 drone conducts photogrammetry and bathymetry surveys covering nearly 2,000 hectares. Remotely operated by our teams from the Command and Control Center (CCC) in Montreal, the drone provides essential data for site management.
Result
Within less than 72 hours, Mont-Wright receives a detailed report including 2D and 3D photogrammetry and bathymetry models of its site. The mine benefits from real-time access to tailings and ore inventories, enhancing decision-making and resource management.
Qualia now benefit from a system that not only simplifies multi-vehicle routing but also offers an unprecedented 4D airspace perspective. The precision and real-time tracking capability have elevated their RPAS functions, making them more secure and efficient than ever.

3D model of a topographic and bathymetric survey
ARA Robotics offers photogrammetry and bathymetry survey services with its fleet of ARA-405 drones. The ARA flight team can rely on the robustness of the ARA-405 drones. They can operate in arid and windy conditions and are even authorized to fly beyond the 120-meter altitude limit, allowing us to cover larger areas in less time. Additionally, data is transferred from the flight site to our server after the flights. This enables us to process the data quickly and deliver reports to the client within short timeframes.
