Challenge
Transport Canada required an autonomous RPAS for 3D reconnaissance in GPS-denied environments to aid in emergency response, rescue operations, and efficiently map places like underground mines.
Solution
ARA Robotics developed an RPAS equipped with a tactical 3D reconnaissance system. To put the system to the test, ARA Robotique went to do flight tests in an underground mine to create a 3D map of the place.
Result
The RPAS successfully operated 250 meters underground in mine drifts, even when beyond the pilot’s visual line of sight, marking the first use of an ARA drone with SLAM technology in such an environment.
Qualia now benefit from a system that not only simplifies multi-vehicle routing but also offers an unprecedented 4D airspace perspective. The precision and real-time tracking capability have elevated their RPAS functions, making them more secure and efficient than ever.
